This Is A Conversation Starter

I will submit a post everyday in March so I can get some momentum and commit myself to writing more often.

I thought about how I want to use this platform, and right now, I want to consider these posts as conversation starters. What that means is: I’m offering my thoughts to you and inviting you to talk about the topics I write about if you feel like deepening a conversation with me.

If you are a subscriber of my site, you can simply hit reply to this post sent to you via e-mail and write an e-mail to me just as you would write to a friend. That’s all. If you are not a subscriber, you can send me a message from here. Alternatively, you can reach me on twitter too.

Now, a bit more about the idea behind deepening a conversation. It’s quite simple, really. I want to talk with you and to share ideas with you. I want to know more about you, too.

You might have heard of this concept called “1000 true fans”. Fans who would support you by going to your gigs, buying your books, or donating to you. Something like that. And this concept argues that the number of fans you would need as a creator/artist/musician/writer etc is 1000.

Regarding this concept… I realized recently that 1000 true fans are not just a group of faceless people, but 1000 different individuals with different stories. Whether you are a fan in this true fan sense or not, I want to treat you as an individual with some interesting stories. I figure that having some deep conversations with you would be a good step towards getting to know you better. Perhaps I could put it this way: I want to get to know one true you rather than talking to 1000 faceless people.

It means a lot if you write to me and have a conversation with me or if you talk about what I write with your friends. If you don’t feel like it, that’s fine too. I just want to let you know of what I prefer.
